Prioritisation and Time Management
Module objectives overview
The "Time Management and Prioritisation" aspects of the Personal Leadership module is designed to equip students with the crucial skills of goal setting, planning, prioritisation, self-reflection, and self-regulation. The learning is structured around two main lessons, each with specific objectives:
Goal Setting and Mapping to Personal Vision: This lesson emphasises the importance of goal setting and planning in personal leadership. Students will be introduced to the SMART goals methodology and guided on how to map these goals to their personal vision. The primary objectives of this lesson are to ensure students understand the significance of setting clear, measurable, and realistic goals and can apply this understanding to their personal and professional life.
Weekly Planning and Self-Reflection: This lesson focuses on effective weekly planning, prioritisation, self-reflection, and stress management. Students will learn various prioritisation techniques and tools to organise their week efficiently to achieve their goals. Additionally, they will be taught self-reflection techniques to promote personal growth and development. The lesson also includes self-regulation practices to manage stress during busy work periods.
Throughout the course, students will engage in interactive exercises and discussions, allowing them to apply the learned concepts and techniques. The course also incorporates elements of cultural teachings and wisdom through the inclusion of Whakatauki, or Māori proverbs, to inspire and encourage the students.
By the end of the course, students will be equipped with a holistic set of skills that will enable them to manage their time more effectively, set and achieve their goals, handle stress and reflect on their actions for continuous self-improvement. These skills will be beneficial in both their personal and professional life, contributing to their overall success.
